John Andrew’Andy’ Holub, 87, of Clarkson, formerly of Scribner, died Friday, April 1, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Clarkson. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am on Monday, April 4 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverend Rod Kneifl as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with lunch following at the church hall. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with Vigil Service at 7:00pm at church. Memorials may be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. John Andrew Holub was born January 13, 1929 to Frank and Dorothy (Ruzek) Holub. He attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School in Dodge, District 32 country school, and graduated from Scribner High School in 1946. Andy was drafted into the Korean War on March 16, 1951. He served in the 72nd Tank Battalion in Korea and finished his enlistment in California. Andy then returned to farm with his father and brother Ermin. On April 21, 1956, Andy married Agatha Venteicher at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierce. The couple lived on the Holub home place near Scribner before moving to Golden Living Center in Clarkson in 2010. Andy enjoyed feeding cattle and hogs and doing mechanical work, especially on John Deere tractors, restoring several of them. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Survivors include children Doris (Ken) Tomasek of Dodge, Mark (Terri) Holub of rural Scribner (Holub farm place), and Jean (Tom) Teply of Clarkson; daughter-in-law Renee Holub of rural Scribner; twelve grandchildren Angela (Sam) Arens of Yankton, SD, Brian (Sheree) Tomasek of Blair, Christopher Tomasek of Lubbock, TX, Kayla Tomasek of Emmetsburg, IA, Jon (Megan) Holub of rural Scribner, Justin (Heather) Holub of Lexington, Paige Holub of rural Scribner, Dallas (Tammy) Teply of Clarkson, Austin Teply of Lincoln, Todd Teply (fiancé Tina Nelson) of Norfolk, Maggie Holub of rural Scribner, and Amanda (Matt) Johnson of rural Scribner; three great-grandchildren Sophia Arens, Logan Teply, and Bennett Holub; and brother Ermin Holub of rural Scribner. Andy is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Agatha, on January 29, 2016; son Roger in 2014; and sisters Rose Gellerman, Philomena Baumert, Sylvia Zakovec, and Milada Goeller.
