Vlasta Vlach, 100, of Dodge, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Parkview Home in Dodge. Funeral Mass will be 10:00am on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Reverend An Duy Phan as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with lunch following at the church hall. Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday with a Vigil Service at 7:00pm all at church. Memorials may be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church or donor’s choice. Vlasta Chudomelka was born on December 24, 1915 to Robert and Bessie (Podliska) Chudomelka on the family farm south of Dodge. When she was 12 years old, the family moved to Dodge where she graduated from Dodge High School in 1934. On January 2, 1940, Vlasta married Wilman Vlach at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. The couple owned and operated Vlach and Son Grocery Store until their retirement in 1976. Vlasta was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Guild. She will be remembered as an excellent cook and loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include sons Robert W. (Delores) Vlach of Lohman, MO and Harold Vlach of Hastings; grandchildren Brian (Jennifer) Vlach and Stephen (Piya) Vlach; great-grandchildren Lauren and Cameron Vlach and Wilman and Finn Vlach; and niece and nephew Janet Mestl and Mike Lauderfield. Vlasta is preceded in death by her husband, Wilman, in 2013, her parents, and her sister Opal Lauderfield.
