Edwin Litz, 79, of Scribner, formerly of Snyder, died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner. Funeral Service 10:30am Tuesday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder, with Reverend Don Cleary officiating. Burial at St. Leo’s Cemetery. Visitation 12:00pm until 8:00pm Monday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point, with family receiving friends 5:00pm until 7:00pm. Memorials may be made to Snyder Volunteer Fire Department. Edwin Joseph Litz was born April 27, 1935 in Omaha to Joseph and Elsie (Schaefer) Litz. He grew up in the Monterey and Dodge area, and worked on the family farm at a young age. On March 5, 1957, Ed married Mary Ann Nelson at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells. The couple farmed near Howells and moved to Snyder in 1965. Ed worked for Gerwick Construction in Snyder and Smeal Manufacturing, retiring in 2003. In 2006, he moved to Good Samaritan Center in Scribner. Ed was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Snyder Volunteer Fire Department, and Termites 4-H Club, serving as a 4-H leader. He volunteered at Good Samaritan Center and was an officer with Dodge County Mutual Aid, serving as president. Ed greatly enjoyed his work. Survivors include his daughters Dorothy Litz of Scribner, Deborah (Kevin) Hammer of Wayne, and Donna (Kenny) Meyer of West Point; sons Dick (Stacey) Litz of Hooper, Ron Litz and Robert Litz of Snyder, and Doug Litz of Lincoln; sister Elaine Colitzas of Doniphan; brother Eugene (Lou) Litz of Dodge; grandchildren Trevor Litz, Cassandra Litz, Zach Voss, Michelle Hammer, Veronica Litz, Jake Dodge, and Richard Albanese; and great-granddaughter Adalynn Litz. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Mary Ann on September 11, 2002. Stokely Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
