Donald Gene Starr, 82, of West Point, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 am. Friday at Trinity Church with Reverend Phil Fischer officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 am. to 8:00 pm. with family receiving friends from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Foundation. Don was born April 5, 1930, at Ewing to Donald and Marie Larson Starr. He was a 1948 graduate of West Point Public High School, attended UNL and served in the United States Navy during Korea. Don married Shirley Warner in Fremont and she died in 1974. Don worked in Lincoln at Western Electric and as a motorcycle policeman. In 1977 he married Dolores Graff Garrison in West Point. Don retired in 1980 from State Farm, where he did claim adjusting in Lincoln, Ainsworth, and Omaha. After his retirement, Don returned to West Point. Don was a member of Trinity Church, the American Legion, and Jordan Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed living and fishing at the lake and hunting pheasant, turkey and deer. Survivors include his wife Dolores of West Point, daughter Kimberly Stark of Omaha, son David (Julie) Garrison of Ainsworth, sister Elizabeth Dinslage of West Point, nephew Roger (Pamela) Danielski of West Point, daughter-in-law Nancy Starr of Omaha, son-in-law Fred Larsen of Omaha, grandchildren Jason (Julie) Lewis, Ashley Starr, Amy Starr, Derek (Katie) Danielski, Staci Danielski, Lane Garrison, Whitney Garrison, Sean Starr and Ronda Starr, great grandchildren Jenna Lewis, Joshua Lewis, Kya Danielski, and Aden Parker. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Shirley in 1974, sons Ronald in 1999 and Stacy in 2010, daughter Terry Larsen in 2012, son-in-law Bill Stark in 2011, brother Roger, and nephew Gregory Danielski.
