Wilma Wellman, 89, of West Point died June 29, 2012 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Noon to 8 pm Sunday with Guild Rosary at 1:30 pm Sunday and Public Wake Service at 7:00 pm Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Aloys, St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder or West Point Community Theatre. Wilma was born September 6, 1922 North of Howells in Cuming Countyto John and Anna (Wolf) Schlautman. On September 29, 1943, she married Leander Wellman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. The couple raised their family and operated a dairy farm North of Dodge. Wilma and Lee moved to Snyder in 1977 where she provided child day care, worked at the Snyder library and was active at the Over 60 center. The couple moved to West Point in 2004. Wilma was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and former parishioner of St. Aloysius Catholic Church at Aloys and St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder. She was an active church member, taught CCD and sang in the choir. She was known for her warm hospitality, baking, and was a gracious, loving mother to her large family. Survivors include children Marjorie (Kenneth) Batenhorst of West Point, Jerry (Shelley) of Beemer, Robert (Julie) of Spokane, Washington, tom (Gloria) of Beemer, Dennis (Connie) of Mead, david (Laurie) of Lincoln, Janet (Brian) Allison of Lincoln, Diane (Barclay) Hunt of Lincoln; and Mark (Shawna) of Columbus; brothers Victor (Irene) Schlautman of Council Bluffs, IA, Norbert (Camilla) Schlautman of West Point, NE, Florin (Sally) Schlautman of Loveland, CO, Joe Schlautman of Fremont, NE, Virgil Schlautman of West Point, NE and Edwin “Dusty” (Lorraine) Schlautman of West Point, NE; 36 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by husband, Leander in 2009.
