Donald Joseph Kreikemeier was born on June 3, 1932 to B. J. and Lena (Gentrup) Kreikemeier on a farm west of Monterey and attended St. Boniface Catholic School.  On November 5, 1952, Donald married Janice Ritzdorf at St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church in Howells.  He joined the Army in 1953 where he served honorably with Company A 11th as an engineer in the Korean War and earned his GED.  Upon his return from military service, the couple farmed west of Monterey where Don also worked at IBP for 28 years in the scale house before retiring in 1988.  They moved to West Point in 1985 and Don worked part-time at Kaup Fertilizer.  The couple moved to Fremont in 2010 where Don drove cars for Woodhouse Ford in Blair.

Don was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.   He also served as Cuming County Supervisor for 12 years.  He was a member of the VFW where he served as commander and helped with the stand at the Cuming County Fair.  Don was able to make a trip to Korea with his son and grandson as well as go on the Veteran’s Honor Flight to Washington D.C.    Don was an avid fan of game shows.  The Kreikemeier family auditioned to be on 'Family Feud' and Don was able to spin the wheel during a 'Price is Right' tour.   He loved fishing, bowling, playing the accordion, and playing cards, especially sheephead and poker.  Don and Janice enjoyed going to dances where their smooth and effortless dancing was on display.  Don could be found attending the activities and games of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife, Janice, of Fremont; children, Russell of Omaha, Roxanne (Tim) Schmaderer of West Point, Rodney 'Butch' of Fremont, Rollie (Micky) of West Point, Roger (Jenny) of Omaha, and Rhonda (Tim) Burger of Fremont; son-in-law, Ron Makovec of Kansas; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Dennis Weiler of West Point.  Don is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Renee; and siblings, Marcella Luebbert, Andrew Kreikemeier, and Betty Weiler.
