Barbara Snyder, 92, of Dodge, died Friday, May 25, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Nona Wisnieski, in Dodge. Graveside services will be 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 30 at the Ewing Cemetery in Ewing. Lunch will follow at the Ewing Veterans Hall. Visitation with family present will be Tuesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to the Ewing Volunteer Fire Department. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Barbara Mae Snyder was born March 11, 1926, in Iowa, to George and Helen Collins Wright. As a toddler, she moved with her family to Ewing, Nebraska. Barbara graduated from Atkinson high school, received normal training, and taught country school. On January 2, 1946, Barbara married Lloyd Snyder at O'Neill, Nebraska. The couple lived on an acreage near Ewing where Barbara enjoyed the simple pleasures of farm life. Her passion was tending the farm animals and caring for her family, including helping raise two granddaughters. As a woman of independence, Barbara remained in her home until her health would no longer permit, spending her final weeks in the care and home of her daughter.
Survivors include her daughter, Nona Wisnieski of Dodge; son, Robert Snyder of Ewing; sister, Shirley (Larry) Malena of Battle Creek; 3 granddaughters and 11 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd in 1976; brothers, Roy, Earl, Ernest and Ivan Wright; sisters, Gladys Steskal, Juanita Sands and Beulah Arehart; and son-in-law, Gerald Wisnieski.
